New group just created to include all community members in St. Mary Magdalen Parish and the Airline Park area. We are primarily a an all-inclusive group of men & women that is also family friendly. We hope to hold events that will bring the community together socially. A few things that we have discussed: Movie nights, bingo, corn hole tournaments, game nights, dinners, adult socials, family socials, seafood dinners, family picnics, and outdoor Masses. We are excited about this new group and hope you will join-in with the fun! We are planning to meet every 1^st Monday of the month at 6:00 pm in Massett Hall (Cafeteria).  All adults invited.  Bring your favorite food item to share and your own beverage of choice.  Water, ice, and paper products will be provided.  We are also planning to hold many fun-filled events for adults and our families.  
Attend a meeting to socialize and enjoy some good food with good friends.

December meeting. Meeting will be Monday December 1st in Massett Hall at 6PM. Remember to wear ugly Christmas sweater. Not a requirement, but just for fun.

Faithful Friends will give away a Drew Brees/Blue Dog signed poster to one lucky ticket holder. The drawing will be at the Faithful Friends Meeting on 12/1/25.

SMM Faithful Friends Cookbook. Terry Heller is organizing a SMM Faithful Friends Cookbook. If you or any SMM alumni would like to submit a recipe, please email it to Terry [email protected] . Please remember to include your name (and class year if you're an alumni ), name of recipe, and actual amounts of ingredients. A dash of this or a pinch of that does not work. Cost of cookbook will depend on how many recipes are submitted. If you have any questions please contact Terry at 504-909-9183 or [email protected].

If not enough recipes are received by Nov 30th, then may have to cancel.

Mardi Gras Social at Metairie Manor : Milly Williams is organizing a Mardi Gras Social at Metairie Manor (Fr. Bob’s Crib).  This will be in January (Mardi Gras is February 17, 2026) but she is looking for some homemade donations so we’re giving y’all plenty of time to craft.  It will be on a Sunday in January about 3PM. The residents will have already eaten so this will be a casual get-together to bring Mardi Gras happiness to the residents.
Here are some ideas Milly has come up with but is open to suggestions!!  
-       have a second line so we need people to donate small, decorated umbrellas and beads (we all have the beads in our attic)
-       centerpieces for the tables 
-       have some snacks and drinks (king cakes, cookies, chips and drinks etc.
-       door prizes
-       Someone to be in charge of playing Mardi Gras music during our social.

The SMM Community Sale was the first event under this newly formed "Faithful Friends". More than $6330 was collected during the Community Sale; all of which went towards the SMM capital campaign. Yes, the money collected was great, but the community togetherness was just as important. Thanks to Susan Arthur for the initial idea and the leadership. Thanks to key leaders Babette Staunton, Regina Fleming, and Nancy Dicharry who helped her. Thanks to the over 40 different parishioners, who rolled up their selves and helped at various times. Thanks to the congregation for an overwhelming amount of great donated items and for coming out and supporting this effort!  Lots of fun, fellowship, and great new friendships happened during the planning, organization, and operation of this event.
